Now that people are glued to their laptop screens even at home, a large part of the day-to-day communication is also happening through these virtual meetings. Video conference calls and audio conference calls are really important for team members to stay connected.

Not be left behind, Google has come up with Google Meet – a video conferencing facility that pushes back on popular apps like Zoom etc. Google Meet is now accessible via Gmail for holding virtual meetings and conferences.

Google says Hangouts Meet is now Google Meet. Advanced Google Meet video conferencing features—such as larger meetings (up to 250 participants), live streaming, and recording—are free for all G Suite customers through September 30, 2020.

Google says its Premium video meetings facility is now free for everyone and that it has re-engineered the service that they had built for secure business meetings. So now it is free and available to all Google users with a Gmail account.

A lot of companies had begun using Zoom for video calls and company meetings. A number of these user organisations have raised privacy concerns where the Zoom applications was concerned.

Zoom has been called out by people for the alleged invasion of privacy. A lot of people are now switching over to Google Meet. Interestingly, Google Meet was initially available to G suite members only for a certain price but the Google team has now released the application for use on a ‘free to download’ basis and can be accessed on any computer. It can incorporate 100 members at once for a video conference call.

Unlike Zoom, only Google users can have access to video conference calls. You do not have to click on a link to access the call, you have to log in via Google account, and you can access the video conference call only based on the invitation sent to you by the host.

The application has features almost similar to Zoom. The layout design has various screens and allows you to share the screen. But the benefit with Google Meet is the integration of your Gmail account. You can directly make calls to your company via the company mails.

Here are the simple steps as to how you can access Google Meet on your laptop-
